  There are many reasons that affect the quality of gravure printing, the most important of which are: the environment of the workshop, the pressure of the embossing cylinder, the scraper, the pressure and Angle, the printing speed, the viscosity of the ink, the tension control, the drying system, the quality of the plate roller, etc. Therefore, to ensure the quality of gravure printing, the above work must be strictly controlled.

  1. Determine the appropriate temperature and humidity of the printing workshop

  The temperature of the printing workshop is taoo high, the humidity is too large, which can easily lead to the phenomenon of resticking, fading, color transfer, adhesion, poor firmness, etc., which will also make the ink decompose and print no color. If the printing workshop is too dry, in the case of fast printing speed, static electricity will be generated, causing the field part of the pattern to flower; In the case of slow printing speed, it will make the printed matter dull, dry plate, paste plate and other phenomena. Generally, the temperature of the printing workshop is controlled at 20-25 ° C, and the relative humidity is controlled at 55%-75%.

  2. The pressure of the embossing cylinder should be appropriate

  Imprinting cylinder is not smooth, there will be printing, color uneven phenomenon; The embossing cylinder pressure is too large, the printing pattern will appear double shadow, unclear, dull phenomenon; If the pressure of the embossing cylinder is too small, the shallow net part will be lost or blocked, and the text part will be broken and unclear. High-quality embossing rollers with flat surface and moderate hardness should be selected. The pressure of the embossing cylinder should be adjusted when printing. The choice of pressure should be based on different printing methods, different substrate materials and different thickness of the same substrate material.

  3. The pressure and Angle of the scraper should be adjusted well

  The Angle between the scraper and the plate roller is generally controlled at 45-65°, and further adjusted according to the depth of the layer and the printing speed. When adjusting, attention should be paid to the distance between the scraper and the impression roller to match the printing speed, and at the same time, the appropriate pressure should be given to the scraper. The size of the scraper pressure can be adjusted according to the depth of the plate level.

  4. Control printing speed

  The printing speed provided by different printers will vary. When printing, cannot exceed the fastest printing speed of the printing press. In addition, the choice of printing speed should be determined according to different printing methods, different workshop environments, different printing methods, different printing materials, and different patterns to determine the appropriate printing speed to ensure that the best printing quality is ultimately achieved.

  5. Choose the right ink viscosity

  Adjust the working viscosity of the ink, on the one hand, we should take into account the printing speed, fast printing speed, choose fast drying solvent; Slow printing speed, should choose a slow dry solvent. On the other hand, in the printing process in time to add the volatile solvent, it is best to mix with the ink into the ink tank to ensure the consistency of the color of the print. In order to ensure that the spot color plate is thick and bright in color, the ink viscosity of the general spot color ink is higher than the ink viscosity of the four-color ink.

  6. The drying system should be matched

  The drying system affects the speed of the gravure press. Its main function is to improve the adhesion fastness of the ink on the surface of the substrate material, so that the solvent in the ink is thoroughly dry, and prevent the non-drying caused by backsticking or odor after printing. Therefore, the drying system should be matched with the speed of the printing press, and then adjust the temperature and air volume of the oven according to the size of the pattern area on the print.

  7. Plate roll quality

  The influence of the quality of the plate roller on the printing quality is very great. Such as: plate roll accuracy is not good, dynamic balance is poor, size head, ellipticity and concentricity deviation will affect the overprinting; Printing plate field is too deep, will affect ink drying, hair and other problems; The plate field is too light will lead to the field color is not thick, the field part of the drawing situation; The poor polishing of the layout will cause problems such as plate stain and knife wire. Insufficient chromium hardness or insufficient chromium layer thickness will affect the printing amount of the plate roller and so on.
